The following is the Essay I wrote for my College course, Current Issues.
URL to article: http://www.aynrand.org
This article talks a lot about the threat of terrorism, and how the world will not being able to find peace by sticking to the ways we have now. It talks heavily about "cultural imperialism". The voluntarily acceptance in changes in ideas, art, and entertainment produced in civilized countries.
When reading this article is was shocked by the way they worded their meanings. A lot of these things would have to happen for the world to be at peace. But by changing every society to accept one stance is impossible. Everyone in the world has their own ideas and their own stances. What shocked me was when they brought up “voluntary persuasion “. Volunteering for something means that you are not brought over by any other forces of persuasion. Yet the meaning of persuasion is to be convinced by some outstanding force that effects your decision. To me, voluntary persuasion is impossible. Persuasion over powers voluntarism.

Big Corporations remind me of Higschoolers
So Ive been recently told about a little issue that AOL has been having with a small group of people who have created a program that allows the combination of AIM,Yahoo,Msn,Jabber, and a few other chat messengers, All in one single program.
The group of developers created this application and named it "Gaim" While this stood for "GTK + AOL Instant Messenger" there is where my point leads me to. Although this name closely resembles the name "AIM" the application "Gaim" was created before AOL ever started calling their service "AIM".
Big Corporations remind me of High school students. They nag, complain, and do anything to make someone else's life a living hell. I support open source developing, and in doing so beleive that just because a name is like another, Doesn't mean they are trying to steal your work.
How often do you go to a computer store and see off brand products using things like "I" when they have absolutely no relevance to APPLE. They are merely item's for the product they put out called "IPOD" This is nothing different from this situation. AOL put out a product called "AOL Instant Messegner". "Gaim" is a off brand of "AIM".
Do you catch my drift here? Not only was "Gaim" around before the name "AIM" but "Gaim" is an open source project. Which means they the developers are not making anymoney from people using the product.

Im an American
I got a serious statement for you all to think about. here it is:
We go to war, We fight, We die, We go in debt. All for what? What makes the small piece of land it took 100 American soldiers to take, So special.
If we spent as much time figuring out how to prevent war, as the average American spent sitting on their ass watching T.V. We would be so much better off.
God bless our troupes, and if they must die, Die in honor. Forget about the land, Forget about the oil. The truth is Americans are dieing for us. So take a moment out of each day, sit in a minute or two in complete silence, and thank them for what they do. Even though they may not hear you, you still ow it to them.
Please pass this on, Because I beleive that every troupe deserves a moment of love, thanks, and silence.
God Bless America and her troupes.
