Big Corporations remind me of Higschoolers

So Ive been recently told about a little issue that AOL has been having with a small group of people who have created a program that allows the combination of AIM,Yahoo,Msn,Jabber, and a few other chat messengers, All in one single program.

The group of developers created this application and named it "Gaim" While this stood for "GTK + AOL Instant Messenger" there is where my point leads me to. Although this name closely resembles the name "AIM" the application "Gaim" was created before AOL ever started calling their service "AIM".

Big Corporations remind me of High school students. They nag, complain, and do anything to make someone else's life a living hell. I support open source developing, and in doing so beleive that just because a name is like another, Doesn't mean they are trying to steal your work.

How often do you go to a computer store and see off brand products using things like "I " when they have absolutely no relevance to APPLE. They are merely item's for the product they put out called "IPOD" This is nothing different from this situation. AOL put out a product called "AOL Instant Messegner". "Gaim" is a off brand of "AIM".

Do you catch my drift here? Not only was "Gaim" around before the name "AIM" but "Gaim" is an open source project. Which means they the developers are not making anymoney from people using the product.
