New Web Server: And Promotional Prices

Today's post is a little off topic from where I am usually posting, but I have just got a new server up and running and had to post about it.

Yesterday and today, I started a fresh installation of CentOS on my blade server I purchased several months ago. CentOS is a Linux distribution based on the Red Hat open source operating system. It's design is leaned to those who want to run secure servers with high performance.

The installation went off without any problems, other then the ones I had with my network. After fixing the network everything work great out of the box, so they say. My next step was getting Apache setup.

Apache by it's self was a fairly quick and painless process, the installation was as simple as typing "yum install Apache" and waiting just a few minutes. Again, out of the box, Apache does it's job very well, and for single site hosting has almost no extra configuration's to make. I however plan and am hosting multiple sites. This is where Vhost's come in.

Vhost stands for "VirtualHost" and allows Apache to run multiple websites from one daemon. Setting up the configs for this feature was what took me most of my time. After fixing a few daemon start up bugs, and getting my configs right, Vhost is now working as expected!

People who visit my IP directly will get a warning page asking them to use a valid URL, where visiting by link: www.mediaxsolutions.com will bring you to the hosted page for my web host company.

At this time the server is up and running, and running with great performance.

Now that the new server is running I am offering a special promotion to those who visit this blog, and for all their friends! Here is a small breakdown:

FreeCreditReport.com - A Review

I have been using their site for about 2 months now. They offer a 14 day trial for getting your free report, and charge 14.95 monthly to track your credit score. For 24.95 monthly you can track you credit score on all 3 reporting agency's.

Although they are not the cheapest site out there (Wellsfargo offers all 3 scored for 14.95 to their customers) I have found that they have the easiest and nicest flowing site of all the ones I have tried.

I have also found their alerts to be very handy when keeping a close eye on your credit score. I get an alert sent to my email, in turn gets sent to my phone. So every time something on my credit happens, I am notified within 20 seconds of the action.

Over all I would say they are a little spendy, but for their well designed site, and easy to use layout, I think this is a great program for anyone working on building their credit back up. The first step to rebuilding credit, Is knowing your credit number.

There is only one book I ever recommend to people trying to get out of debt, and fix their credit. This is a must have! This is the book by Dave Ramsey called The Total Money Makeover.

Dearly Devoted Dexter

Dearly Devoted Dexter (Vintage Crime/Black Lizard)I started the second book about 3 days ago. I had just finishes Darkly Dreaming Dexter, which was the first in the set. So far the second book has kept me on a short leash. For the first part of this book Dexter takes us through some of his brain and paints a decently detailed picture about whats going on in his "lizard Brain" as he would put it.

Within the first few chapters we are introduced to his next victim. We also start to get a in depth layout of the rules and laws Dexter follows, which were laid down by Harry, His adopted father. There is still more yet to play out in this story of Dexter, our Good guy serial killer.

More updates to come as I get farther into the book, as well as a final review once I am done. I would highly recommend picking the first book up if you haven't already, this is a set of books you will love!

LokalWear.com Had been released

Today marks the release of a brand new site that I put together. This site was built for my brother and his company. I thought that this would help him get his name out on the net and perhaps bring him some more business. Here is a quick run down.

Who Is LokalWear.com:
Lokal Wear is a company ran out of Tigard Oregon, and Is owned By my brother Bill. He has been training in MMA for about just over a year now. He founded Lokal Wear because of all the local connections we have with Fighters, Bands, and other groups.

What Does LokalWear.com Provide:
Lokal Wear has been working with local bands for a while now. Although the menu is small right now, Lokal Wear is dedicated to providing quality clothing with etiher the Lokal Wear Brand, or a brand of your choosing. Many local bands have turned to Lokal Wear to get all the hotest gear to sell at their shows.

Just because they servce mostly Local Groups does not mean they can't serve you. The truth of the matter is If you want your name or logo on clothing, They can help you out.

Complete Makeover for 2010

TheJonesTheory - A total make over
Current mood: stoked
My blog has been up for about 4 years now, on and off I have been active with it. I decided to get back into the scene, and start pushing it harder. Lets take a look at some things I have done.

1) I have re-purchased My domain: www.thejonestheory.com

It had run out and removed it self, Causing a lot of my search traffic to disappear. I bought it back up, and linked it directly to my blogger.com account (google owned).

2) Choose a New line of flavor: Review and News

Previously I had decided to blog about anything and everything. I found that there was too much randomness going on to make sensible use of my blog. I am now focusing my thoughts and leaning more to the direction of Book/Movie/Tv Show Reviews and News.

I have started reading more, trying to open my mind to new and better things. I'm using this to my advantage and working on cranking out a whole new set of posts.

3) Brand New Layout: #sosexy

I cranked out a new layout for my blog. I liked the original one, but it was a default template, and it just started to get on my nerves. The new one looks more crisp and flows a lot smoother. Not to mention loads amazingly fast!

4) New Market Scheme: Away With they google ads!

I had a few odd looking ads sprung within the site. Making it not only have a weird flow, But a clashing design. I have chosen some newer and nicer looking Advertising companies and have even turned to some private purchasing ad's which I hope will fill up as I rebuild.

5) Bloggers Wanted: TheJonesTheory Needs YOU! (finger point)

I have decided since I can only read so fast, and only read so many things that I have room to invite some other bloggers on board. I think this will be a good idea and will help spread the flavor around.

If you blog, even once a week, Id like you! I'm looking for some new faces to add. If you have read a book, Watched a movie, Or baught an item within the last year, YOU FIT MY NEEDS (oh baby oh baby)

Lets say you don't want to become a reguler, but would like to get your name, or perhaps personal link (own blog, myspace link, email, phone number, etc) on the web and infront of (WOW 50 hits a day! I just started!) people. Write a review and email me it!

Well thats all for now folks. If you want to email me, jjonesdesign at gmail.com

The Twilight Saga: New Moon - Movie 2009

In the second installment of Stephenie Meyer's phenomenally successful TWILIGHT series, the romance between mortal and vampire soars to a new level as Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) delves deeper into the mysteries of the supernatural world she yearns to become part of—only to find herself in greater peril than ever before. With more of the passion, action and suspense that made TWILIGHT a worldwide phenomenon, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON is a spellbinding follow-up to the box office hit.
I have heard great things about this new movie, The first one being loved by millions. I was present on opening day of the first film, But missed the release of the new one. Many people are allready excited about the next movie in the saga, and people seem to be allready waiting in line!

As expected "New Moon" the second of four twilight movies was a huge hit on opening day. New Moon pulled in an amazing $140.7M weekend. Wish I could get a small chunk, but hey, I didn't star in it.

If you went and saw the movie, How was it? Did you see it on opening night?

If you havn't allready baught it, Get the Twilight Two-Disc Special Edditon. (It's Cheaper!): Twilight (Two-Disc Special Edition)

Darkly Dreaming Dexter - Book

Darkly Dreaming Dexter (Vintage Crime/Black Lizard)
Darkly dreaming Dexter is a book by Jeff Lindsay (also made into a Showtime series) about a character "Dexter Morgan" who works for the Metro Miami Police as a blood splatter analyst. Dexter's foster sister "Debera Morgan" also works with Dexter in the Metro Miami Police force.

Dexter is the lead blood splatter analyzer, with a twisted alter ego. Dexter was adopted by "Harry Morgan" a Miami Police detective  who raised Dexter with a wild understanding of Dexter's "Imperfections" growing up as a young child.

This story takes us along a thrilling ride as Dexter try's to solve a series of murders done by the "Ice Truck Killer" who's murder techniques follow oddly similar to Dexter's. Follow Dexter on his murderous adventurers as he and Debera track the ice truck killer through Miami.

I was given this book as a gift from a friend who knew that I deeply enjoyed the T.V series on showtime. Once I started reading the book I realized I wasn't able to put it down. I ended up reading the entire book in one sitting. Only an hour later did I get back online and order the following 2 books in the series.

I will be putting up a short overview and some comments on those two in due time. For now I would highly recommend this first book as a place to start. please let me know how much you enjoyed this book. I would love to hear back!

Have you read this book? Please leave a comment about what you thought of it.

Future Weapons: 2010

Do to popularity I have decided to do another post about future weapons. 2010 has a lot in store for our people over sea's. The military has implemented some amazing new technology to help support, and protect our troops.

This post isn't he to discuss war, why we are at war, or if we should be at war. But rather give some idea of what the military is doing to protect the people we love, respect, and quiet frankly miss.

Today's post is about the latest and greatest in check point, and field operation security. The image you see to your left is a turrect mounted gun station. This paticuler setup is on vehicles and allows user to fire from within the safty of their vehicle. Heres a small quote form ArmyRecognition.com:

The Protector weapon control system protects military troops by allowing the vehicle's weapons to be operated from a protected position inside the vehicle.

Although this image shows a vehicle mounted version, Similar models are being design and tested for check point security stations. It is soon hoped that check points will be completely unmanned and have an arrangement of gun turrets as you see above.

Unnamed check points will allow operators to be anywhere in the world to secure check points and other items of use. This is just one of the many things they are doing to better serve out service men and woman.

Find all three seasons of Future Weapons on DVD:
Future Weapons: Season 1
Future Weapons: Season 2

Avatar (2009)

The King of the World has returned! Mr. James Cameron's youngest "Avatar" is a mind-blowing adventure and the most impressive and intricate work of art, I've ever seen.

When his twin brother is killed, disabled ex-Marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is recruited to aid a mining expedition on the distant jungle moon of Pandora as only his DNA will bond with the alien hybrid body, known as an Avatar, that allows humans to breathe the toxic air. With orders to infiltrate the Na'vi, Jake finds himself falling in love with native girl, Neytiri (Zoe Saldana).
This movie turned out good. The CGI is amazing considering the budget they spent. Although the turn out on opening day was not that great, this movie has pulled out in the box offices numbers. A must see for movie fans!

Have any of you seen this movie yet? What did you think of it?

If you like the movie, check out the book!

Oregon: Increased Traffic Call Higher Demands

It has been apparent to Oregonians in major metropolitan areas, that there seems to be more cars, and ever shrinking roads. The demand for dynamic traffic flow has been high for several years, But whats to be done?
ODOT has put out many reports containing traffic congestion reviews, but with what seems like little accuracy. With the populous growing higher by the year, Oregon is suffering from bogged down road ways.
ODOT has plans in action to fix some major roadways, but most of their plans fail to accommodate for higher traffic flow in condensed areas. With the new Train lines sprouting up, it's ODOT's hopes that this will help regulate the already over crowded road ways. Let's hope their statistics are at least close to correct.

Government: Friend Or Foe?

Over the last few decades, we have seen a dramatic increase in taxes. It is said that these increases are to provide solutions and services for the citizens of the united states, But whats really going on?
Lets take a closer look into the truth. Along with the tax increases all us Americans have lived through, there is 2 common trends. These trends work hand in hand, and bring a truthful reasoning to the pain behind new taxes.

Trend One: Increase spending. The government has placed those who work for them above other American citizens. If your a state or government employee, your pay, benefits, and paid vacations are doing nothing but increasing. With unemployment at it's highest, Why do State/Government employee's keep getting raises? (Hmm, think about it)

Trend Two: Lack Of Budgeting. Along with increased spending habits, lack of budgeting is hot on its tracks. Take a look into the past and look at just how many times taxes have increased over the course of several years (we'll call this X). Now look at how many times the government has done budget adjustments/Cuts (we will call this Y). If our X is happening because of the lack of Y's, then SOMEONES math is wrong. (let me assure you, It's not the government employee's making 3x that average of a civilian job)
My point comes down to this simple suggestion (If I'm not out of place, Of course). SPEND LESS, TAX LESS. Wouldn't budgeting for a sturdier economy be better for America in the long run?
(Oh wait, It's not about America. It's about securing Government jobs and benefits)

It's Been long. It's Been Fun.

People For Peace

I have decided to do a small post for someone on myyearbook.

She is an young girl with a big dream! Here is a blurb from her site:

we are completely blessed to be living on this planet surrounded by beauty and people with golden hearts and minds.
But the thing is is that human beings tend to be angry, we tend to get jealous, we've managed to stray away from what we were meant to be, and that is a community of love; a community connected by heart and mind, a species created to live for the higher good.

And that brings me to my idea...
How do we fix what so many people think is already destroyed?

Stop by and take a look. She deserves it from all the hard work.

Oregon Voting - Measures 66 and 67

Some of you may have seen billboards, signs, or advertisements on television about measures 66 and 67 in the state of Oregon. Many of you are probably wondering if this measure even effects your life. Here is what some of you may not know yet.

Measures 67 will impose a tax increase for Business Corporations in the state of Oregon. This measure will bring the state tax minimum from the current amount, Of no less then $10, to a higher $150 state minimum. This state minimum is for business's that have actually lost money over the last year. This measure also instates a 1.3 point increase in state tax filing fee's.

Measure 66 is everyone's concern. This measure imposes tax increases on individuals as well as household incomes. This tax increase is aimed at those households who's income reaches 250k+ a year. or 125k for a single.

The problems start here. The state of Oregon is considered the best place for small business's. With one of the lowest tax rates, Oregon has had growing number's of small business's. These measures effect the owners of these business's who claim the companies income on them self's. Roughly 20% of small business's in Oregon will be effected by these new measures. This in turn will cause yet even more job losses for the state of Oregon.
Funds raised from these new taxes will go to state education, public safety, and health care in the state of Oregon.
